One day, Princess and Good Witch joined the witch party. “But I’m not a witch!” Said Princess. “Well, you can dress like one!” Good Witch suggested. So Princess went anyway dressed up just like a witch. They had fun until one witch at the party asked Princess to fly on her magic broom. Of course she could not. Princess did not want to tell lies and so she confessed she was not one of them. The witches were shocked but they forgive her for being truthful and best of all, they asked her to stay and continued the fun! Hurray!

Once upon a time, there was a Little Girl who was always shouting or talking at the top of her lungs. Mummy said it was rude. Papa said no. Teacher said no good. Still she never changed. One day, it was a school outing to the library. Teacher warned her that she had to keep her voice low. But as usual, she shouted, “wow it is so quiet in here!” And all her friends and teachers and everybody else at the library turned to her and said a “shhhhhhhhh.” She turned red, totally embarrassed and from that day onwards, she never shout anymore.

One day, Little Girl found a story book she had never seen before. Settled comfortably at the garden, she started reading it. It’s about puppets. Very soon she fell asleep with the book still on her lap. And she started to dream. She dreamt she was performing to an audience. Her hands and feet were tied with strings. She’s a puppet! She was made to dance to the music. The audience clapped when it ended and she was then hung to the wall.
“I don’t like being a puppet” and she cried.
Then a cat walked to her and she talked!
“Drink this and you can become a human.” She passed her a bottle of potion. She drank and indeed she turned into a real girl! So happy she skipped with joy. But then she tripped and fell and fainted! She awoke from her dream. “Lucky me it was just a dream!”

How it started…

My daughter was 2.5 years old when I started to tell impromptu stories before naps and sleeps. That was almost 2 years ago. She loves it so much that her excitement always push me to persevere. Always 4 before nap and 4 before sleep. Very often I felt bad that I did not jot down the interesting ones. I was surprised I could do it. And most importantly all these stories stimulate my girl to be very imaginative. Sometimes she will decide on the type of stories and sometimes she will suggest how it should go and end. At four years old, she makes her own stories, creates her own games and loves many other open ended toys.
